A play-dough rainbow

Textbook pp. 16–17
GoalLearn the rules for working with play-dough and make a seven-colour rainbow.
New words
play-dough (plasticine) · plastilinrainbow · kamalakroll, sausage · g‘altakmodelling board · taxtacha
Explanation

Plasticine, the modelling play-dough we use, is made from clay, fat, wax and colours. Unlike clay, it does not dry out in the air. When working with it, we wash our hands, work on a board, never put it in our mouths, and sort it by colour in the box afterwards. A rainbow appears when rain and sunshine come together. The order of colours is always the same: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, violet.

Worked examples
Seven colours = seven rolls. The outer arc is red, the inner arc is violet.
Class activity

You need: 7 colours of play-dough, card, a modelling board, white play-dough. Steps: 1) Roll a long thin sausage from each colour. 2) Press the red one onto the card in a big arc. 3) Lay the others inside it in order: orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, violet. 4) Add white play-dough clouds at both ends. Safety: wash your hands after work; never put play-dough in your mouth.
