Explanation
A frog can live both in water and on land. Its back legs are long and strong, so it jumps high. The skin between its back toes helps it swim. It catches flies and mosquitoes with a long, sticky tongue, so it reduces harmful insects.
Worked examples
If we fold the back legs in a zigzag, the frog looks ready to jump.
Class activity
You need: green paper, red paper, scissors, glue, felt-tip pen. Steps: 1) Cut a big oval body from green paper. 2) Fold two long green strips like an accordion: these are the back legs. 3) Glue the legs to the sides of the body, and add short front legs. 4) Add two big round eyes on top and a red tongue underneath. Safety: when cutting the tongue, keep your free hand out of the scissors’ path.
