My discoveries

Textbook: Part 2, pp. 44–45
GoalReview Unit 5 “Amazing events on Earth”: seasons, horizon, directions, finding the way and disasters.
New words
season · faslhorizon · gorizontdirection · yo‘nalishdisaster · ofat
Explanation

Seasons change because Earth goes round the Sun. The horizon is the line where sky and land seem to meet. The world has four directions: north, south, east, west. We find direction using a map, the Sun, stars and a compass. Earth’s crust consists of moving plates. Natural disasters endanger people, so we must know how to act.

Worked examples
The Sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
In an earthquake: stay calm, get under a table, protect your head.
Class activity

Mini-project “Safety poster”: in groups draw 3–4 safety rules with pictures for one disaster (earthquake, fire, flood). Hang the posters on the classroom wall and take a gallery walk.

Practice
1
Why do seasons change?
2
Name the 4 directions.
3
In which disaster do we get under a table?
