The vowels I and U

Explanation

I and u are vowels too. In some words a short i is heard between two consonants but not written: umr (life), mehr (kindness), sehr (magic), qadr (value). These words must be learned by heart.

Worked examples
ilon (snake), ip (thread), uy (house), uzum (grapes)
It sounds like “mehir” but is written mehr.
