Explanation

The name of one person answers Kim? (Who?): o‘quvchi (pupil). The name of more than one person answers Kimlar? (Who — many?): o‘quvchilar (pupils). Here too the ending -lar means “many”.

Worked examples
Quruvchilar yangi maktab qurdi. (Builders built a new school.) — quruvchilar answers Kimlar?
Shifokor bemorni davoladi. (The doctor treated the patient.) — shifokor answers Kim?
Class activity

“Jobs”: the teacher acts out a job (cook, driver). Children guess it and say it in singular and plural: oshpaz — oshpazlar.
