Length of a broken line
Textbook Part 4, pp. 10–11
GoalFind the length of a broken line by adding the lengths of its links.
New words
link (segment of a broken line) · bo‘g‘inmetro / underground · metroroute · yo‘nalish
Explanation
The length of a broken line equals the sum of the lengths of all its links. Measure each link and add: 2 cm + 4 cm + 3 cm = 9 cm.
Worked examples
Akmal walked to the metro via the park (4 min), museum (5 min) and square (3 min): 4 + 5 + 3 = 12 minutes.
A Tashkent metro journey is also made of pieces between stations — just like a broken line.
Class activity
Children draw a 3-link broken line, measure and label each link, and find its length. Then they draw one straight segment of the same length.
