Finding the whole: short notes
Textbook Part 3, pp. 16–17
GoalWrite a problem as a short note; make different problems from one diagram.

engineer · muhandisprogrammer · dasturchishort note · qisqacha shart
Explanation
A short note keeps only the key words and numbers: “Engineers — 12, Programmers — 8, Total — ?”. Many stories can fit one diagram — what they share is that the parts are added.
Worked examples
12 engineers and 8 programmers worked on a home-help robot: 12 + 8 = 20 people.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9: pair up tens (1 + 9), (2 + 8), (3 + 7), (4 + 6) and 5 → 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 45.
Class activity
One diagram on the board: [—20—|—?—] = 50. Each group writes its own story for it (robots, books, fruit) and solves it.
