The numbers 13 and 14

Textbook Part 2, pp. 10–11
GoalKnow the bonds of 13 and 14; find a missing number.
New words
thirteen · o‘n uchfourteen · o‘n to‘rtsunny / rainy · quyoshli / yomg‘irli
Explanation

13 = 10 + 3 = 9 + 4 = 8 + 5 = 7 + 6. 14 = 10 + 4 = 9 + 5 = 8 + 6 = 7 + 7. If the total and one part are known, we find the other part by subtracting: 14 − 9 = 5.

Worked examples
9 of 14 days were rainy. Days the solar panel worked: 14 − 9 = 5.
7 + 7 = 14 — “doubles”: adding a number to itself is easy to remember.
Class activity

Weather calendar: for 2 weeks children mark each day ☀️ or 🌧️ and at the end count which kind of day there were more of.
