Nouns for activities and processes
Nouns naming an action or process are activity-process nouns. They are formed from verbs with -(i)sh, -(u)v, -(i)m, -ma: yurish (walking), kurash (struggle), o‘qish (reading); yozuv (writing), sinov (test); bilim (knowledge), yig‘im (gathering), o‘lim (death). From nouns, -chilik makes such nouns: dehqonchilik (farming), chorvachilik (livestock raising), paxtachilik (cotton growing), ipakchilik (silk raising). Here -chilik means being engaged in a trade or field. They resemble the verbal noun, but they take noun questions and case suffixes: o‘qishni (reading, accusative), yurishga (to the walking).
“Fields”: name the field your parents or relatives work in using -chilik (bog‘dorchilik, paxtachilik...).
