Salt dough: numbered instructions
Instructions tell us how to do or make something. A recipe has headings: Ingredients, Method and Preparation time. Under Ingredients we write quantities: 2 bananas, 1 cup of grapes, 1 spoon of lemon juice. Under Method we write numbered steps. Every step starts with a verb: wash, cut, put, stir. We can add order words: first, next, then, after that, finally. Look at the salt-dough recipe on page 100 of your book to see its headings. Our recipe is a fruit salad, and it shows the same headings. Knives are for grown-ups: write Ask a grown-up to cut the fruit.
