Textbook pp. 30–33
GoalUnderstand the importance of a daily routine, hardening and avoiding harmful habits.
New words

Explanation
A sensible daily routine has lessons, homework, rest, walks, play and sleep at the right times. If we get up and go to bed at the same time every day, the body feels fresh. Hardening is exercise that makes the body resistant to catching cold: walks in fresh air, airing rooms, air baths. Hardening with water starts gradually, under adult supervision and with a doctor’s advice. Smoking, alcohol and drugs harm growth and the mind, and we keep completely away from them. A regular medical check-up helps find illness early. If we feel unwell, we tell our parents or a doctor.
Worked examples
“Weekly timetable”. Otabek planned to go to bed at 9 p.m. and get up at 7 a.m. At first he forced himself to get up, but after two weeks he woke up without an alarm. In school he became more alert during lessons, and after his morning exercise his mood improved.
Class activity
“My day”: children draw a clock-shaped circle and divide it into sleep, lessons, rest, sport and play; they compare in pairs.
