Explanation

On a map a square is named by a letter and a number: A-3 means row A, column 3. Important places: police station, fire station, hospital, sports center. Question: “Where’s the hospital?” — “It’s in B-2.”

Worked examples
The fire station is in A-3. The hospital is in B-1.
— Where’s the sports center? — It’s next to the park.
Class activity

“Town project”: groups draw a town map with 4 important places and label the squares. Another group finds the places by letter and number.
