What is a letter?

GoalKnow that a letter is the written sign of a sound.

Explanation
We hear and say sounds, but we see, write and read letters. Uzbek has 29 letters. Adding one letter can also make a new word: ayiq (bear) — qayiq (boat).
Worked examples
ayiq (bear) + q → qayiq (boat)
bol (honey) + a → bola (child); don (grain) + a → dona (piece)
Class activity
Tongue twister about a spring, a kid goat and a long ear. Children find words that differ by one sound (buloq — uloq — quloq).
