Habits that help my body
Discover P3 Term 1: Axis 1, Chapter 2
GoalExplain how sleep, staying calm, healthy food and active play help my body, and work out a bedtime.
New words
habit · something you do again and again, almost without thinkingpositive · hopeful and looking for the good sidecalm · quiet and relaxed, not worried or crossactive · moving your body, for example running or cycling
Explanation
Four habits help our bodies. First, sleep. Most children of your age feel best after about 9 to 12 hours of sleep in a night. Sleep helps your brain remember what you learned and helps you feel cheerful. Second, stay calm and positive. When something goes wrong, take three slow breaths. Quiet activities such as reading, drawing or walking help us calm down. Third, eat healthy food: fruit, vegetables, bread, beans, milk and water. Sweet snacks are only for now and then. Fourth, be active. Running, cycling, swimming and playing football make muscles and the heart strong. To find a bedtime, count back from the time you wake up. If you wake at 6:30 and need 10 hours, you go to bed at 8:30 in the evening.
