Forms that make nouns into predicates
When the predicate is expressed by a noun, adjective or numeral, it must still agree with the subject in person and number. This agreement is provided by the suffixes -man, -san, -miz, -siz, -dir: men sportchiman (I am an athlete), sen sportchisan, biz sportchimiz, siz sportchisiz, u sportchidir. The same job is done by the words bo‘lmoq, sanalmoq, hisoblanmoq and by the helpers edi, ekan, emish, emas: U sportchi edi (He was an athlete); Bu masala oson emas (This problem is not easy). Such means that make a nominal predicate agree with the subject are called copulas (bog‘lamalar). When the predicate is made of a verbal noun plus kerak, lozim, darkor, shart, the person is shown by the possessive suffix on the verbal noun: men yozishim kerak (I must write), sen yozishing lozim (you should write).
Agreement game: the teacher says a subject (men, sen, biz...) and you turn “o‘quvchi” into a predicate with the right suffix.
