Review: the rules of correct pronunciation are called orthoepy, and the rules of correct writing are orthography (spelling). Some words are pronounced differently from how they are written: jahon (a like o), pomidor (o like a), tovush (u like i), televizor (e like i), ozod (d like t), qizcha (z like s). Remember the spelling of adjacent vowels (jamoa, shoir), double consonants (tennis, kristall) and consonant clusters (do‘st, g‘isht). Sounds may change when a suffix is added: taroq, tilagi, yaprog‘i, obro‘yim; tikdi, ishda. When in doubt, consult a spelling dictionary.
Mini-dictation: the teacher reads ten words (jahon, tovush, ozod, tennis, do‘st, obro‘yim...). Write them, then check against a dictionary.
