Communicating our culture (2)
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
With a grown-up, read the national anthem in your Discover book, pages 181 and 183. Tell one feeling it gives you. Practise standing straight and listening quietly.
The child names a feeling such as love or pride, and stands and listens respectfully. Do not copy the words.
2
Make up a clapping rhythm with your family. Add a song about your street with two parts: the place and the people.
The song has two parts, one about the place and one about the people, and a steady rhythm.
3
Tell your family a folktale you know, or make one up with a beginning, a problem and an ending. Ask what lesson they heard.
The story has the three parts and a clear lesson.
4
Make a small mosaic from coloured paper, a pattern of shapes or a picture. Count how many pieces you used.
The mosaic has small pieces with gaps and the count matches the pieces.
5
Ask a grown-up what music, craft or story is special in your family or your region. Draw it.
Any real answer from the family is fine.
