Who do we talk to?
Discover P2 Term 2: Axis 4, Chapter 1
GoalName the people we talk to every day and sort them into family, friends and community.
New words
communicate · to share news, ideas or feelings with other peoplecommunity · the people who live and work near usgroup · people or things that belong together
Explanation
When we share news, ideas or feelings with other people, we communicate. We talk, listen, write and draw. We can even smile. Every day we talk to many people. Some are in our family, like Mum, Dad and Grandma. Some are our friends, like our classmates. Some are people in our community, like the teacher, the baker and the bus driver. We can sort the people we talk to into these three groups. Then we can count each group and show the numbers in a graph.
Worked examples
Youssef says good morning to Mum and Grandma at breakfast. They are his family.
At school Youssef talks to Seif and Malak while they build with blocks. They are his friends.
On the way home he thanks the baker for the bread. The baker is a person in his community.
Class activity
My conversations today. Think about everyone you have talked to since you woke up. With a grown-up, draw one dot for each person in the right group: family, friends or community. Count the dots in each group. Which group has the most dots? Which has the fewest?
