Review: buy, sell and save
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapters 1–3
GoalRemember shops, shopping lists, healthy choices, paying, adding small prices and saving.
New words
customer · a person who buys somethingsave · to put some money aside to use later
Explanation
Different shops sell different things. We write a shopping list and choose healthy food: lots of fruit and vegetables and a little sweets. We keep clean with soap, a toothbrush and a towel. We pay with pounds. The price tells us how much. If juice costs 2 pounds and a cake costs 4 pounds, together they cost 6 pounds. We choose wisely: needs first. We save a little each week. We use polite words: please and thank you.
Worked examples
Habiba has 6 pounds. She buys a book for 4 pounds. She has 2 pounds left.
Youssef’s shopping list: bread, toothpaste, a story book. He visits a bakery, a pharmacy and a bookshop.
Farida saves 1 pound every week. After 3 weeks she has 3 pounds.
Class activity
Market game: with a grown-up, set up a pretend market with four things and prices from 1 to 5 pounds. Make a shopping list with two things. Add the prices and pay with pretend coins. Say please and thank you. Then put one coin in your savings box.
