Shops and businesses near us
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 2
GoalName businesses in my community and say whether they sell products or give a service.
New words
business · a place where people work to sell things or help othersservice · help that a worker gives us, not a thing to keep
Explanation
In every community there are many businesses. A grocery sells food. A bookshop sells books. A souvenir shop sells small gifts. These businesses sell products. Other businesses give us a service. A barber cuts hair. A hotel gives rooms to visitors. A taxi driver takes us where we want to go. A restaurant does both: it sells meals and it serves them to us. Which businesses are near your home?
Worked examples
Youssef buys a story book at the bookshop. The shop sells a product.
The barber cuts Karim’s hair. This is a service.
A restaurant cooks meals and brings them to the table.
