Sun, water and air
Discover Term 1: Axis 2, Chapter 1
GoalSay why people, animals and plants need the sun, water and air.
New words
sun · the big star that gives us light and warmthwater · what we drink; all living things need itair · it is all around us and we cannot see itweather · what it is like outside
Explanation
The sun gives us light and warmth. People, animals and plants need the sun. We need water too. We drink it, and animals and plants drink it. A big part of our body is water. Air is all around us. We cannot see air, but we can feel it when the wind blows. The weather tells us what it is like outside: sunny, rainy or windy. Never look straight at the sun.
Worked examples
Seif is thirsty after football. He drinks water. Water helps his body.
Mariam waves a paper fan. She feels the air on her face. The air is moving.
Farida looks out of the window. The sun is shining and there is one small cloud. The weather is sunny.
Class activity
Feel the air. Wave a piece of paper in front of your face. What do you feel? Then draw the sun, a drop of water and the wind. Never look straight at the sun.
