Save our water
Discover Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 1
GoalSay why water is precious and name ways we can save water at home.
New words
precious · very important and not to be wastedsave · use carefully so that none is wasted
Explanation
We need water to drink, to cook, to wash and to water plants. In Egypt, most of our water comes from the River Nile. Clean water is precious, so we must not waste it. We can save water in many ways. Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. Take a short shower. Tell a grown-up if a tap drips. Use a bucket to water plants. Every drop we save helps everyone.
Worked examples
Habiba turns off the tap while she brushes her teeth. She saves water.
Seif waters the plants on the balcony with a small bucket, not a long hose.
A tap that drips all night wastes many drops. A grown-up should fix it.
Class activity
Water pledge: say a promise to your family, “I will save water by ___.” Then draw yourself doing it. Put the picture where everyone can see it. For a week, tick every day you keep your promise.
