Numbers and words on coins

Learner’s Book 1: Unit 13, pp. 198–199
GoalMatch number words to numbers on coins and say which coin is worth more.
New words
value · how much a coin is worthworth more · has a bigger valueorder · put in a row from the smallest to the biggest
Explanation

Coins show their value with a number. Some coins also show a number word. One is 1. Two is 2. Five is 5. Ten is 10. Twenty is 20. We must read the number to know the value. We put coins in order from the smallest value to the biggest value: 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c. A coin with a bigger number is worth more.

Here are three coins in order, from the smallest value to the biggest: 2c, 5c and 20c.
Which is worth more, 5c or 2c? 5 is more than 2, so 5c is worth more.

Word match: write the words one, two, five, ten and twenty on five cards. Write the numbers 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 on five more cards. Turn them over and play a pairs game. Then draw each coin next to its word.
