O’clock times

Learner’s Book 1: Unit 8, pp. 112–114
GoalRead and say o’clock times when the long hand points to 12.
New words
o’clock · the exact hour, with the long hand on 12hour · the short hand shows the hourtime · what the clock shows
Explanation

We say an o’clock time when the long hand points straight up to 12. Then the short hand tells us the hour. When the short hand points to 4, it is 4 o’clock. When the short hand points to 9, it is 9 o’clock. When the short hand points to 12, it is 12 o’clock. Always look at the long hand first. If it points to 12, read the number the short hand points to.
