Higher plants
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write the five groups of higher plants (moss, horsetail, fern, gymnosperms, angiosperms) with one example and one main feature each.
For example: Funaria – no root; field horsetail – two kinds of shoot; fern – sori; pine – cone; apricot – flower and fruit.
2
Write the benefits of juniper and pine for nature and for people.
They protect mountain slopes from erosion, clean the air with phytoncides, and their wood is used for building and papermaking.
3
Watch a pine cone for one day in damp and dry places at home or outdoors (with an adult’s permission) and write the result.
The scales open in a dry place and close in a damp one.
4
Why is water not required for the pollination of gymnosperms?
Their pollen grains are carried by wind.
