Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write two historical examples about science and religion (one of harmony, one of tension).
Harmony: Ibn Sina or al-Biruni working in both science and religious scholarship. Tension: the Galileo trial (1633) or Bruno’s sentence (1600).
2
List four scholars from Central Asia with their fields.
For example: al-Khwarizmi – mathematics; al-Biruni – astronomy, geography; Ibn Sina – medicine; al-Farabi – philosophy.
3
Why should political factors also be considered when evaluating an event such as the Galileo affair?
Because power struggles and personal relations also influenced decisions; reducing the event to “religion versus science” would be inaccurate.
4
Why did Tashkent Islamic University (founded in 1999; since 2018 the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan has worked on its basis) teach secular and religious subjects together? Give your view in three sentences.
Model: Such education gives graduates broad knowledge. They can understand both religious and secular questions in society. In this way the tradition of studying knowledge and belief together continues.
5
