Explanation

Soft snow with very big flakes is called laylak qor (“stork snow”). The textbook has a poem about it by Miltiqboy Xonnazarov. Snow covers the field like a quilt, protects it from frost, and in spring gives the soil water. Our people say: “When snow falls, bread falls” (a good harvest comes).

Worked examples
“Stork snow”. At night big fluffy snow fell. The flakes were big and soft like cotton. Grandpa looked at the field and said: “If a lot of snow falls, the harvest will be rich.” The snow covers the field like a quilt. In spring the melted snow gives water to the soil.
“When snow falls, bread falls” — a lot of snow means a lot of water for the soil and a rich harvest.
