Don’t be a boaster

Textbook Part 2, pp. 57–58
GoalUnderstand that boasting is a bad habit; connect a proverb to a story.
New words
boaster · maqtanchoqmodest · kamtarinto feel ashamed · uyalmoqto show off · kerilmoq
Explanation

A boaster even claims to have done things he hasn’t. A modest person just quietly does the job. The textbook has a fairy tale about a boastful hare. Proverb: “The boaster gets tricked, the modest one gets sweets.”

Worked examples
“Boastful Shohrux”. Shohrux bragged: “I swim better than everyone.” But at the pool he was afraid to get into the water. Modest Aziz quietly swam to the other side. Shohrux felt ashamed. Since then he hasn’t boasted.
Proverb: “The boaster gets tricked, the modest one gets sweets.”
