Animals in winter
Textbook Part 1, pp. 27–28
GoalLearn how animals and birds live in winter and be kind to them.
New words
bitter cold · qahratonfood, feed · yemishbird feeder · yemxonaanimal · jonivor
Explanation
In winter snow covers everything and birds struggle to find food. A bear sleeps through the winter. Kind children make feeders for birds and put out grain. The textbook has the story “The kind-hearted girl” about this.
Worked examples
“The birds’ kitchen”. Bitter-cold winter came. Sardor made a bird feeder with his grandfather. They hung it on the apple tree. Every day Sardor put grain and bread crumbs in it. Sparrows and doves began to fly in. In spring the birds sang in the tree, as if saying “thank you” to Sardor.
Did you know? A bear spends the winter asleep.
