Explanation
Winter is December, January and February. Snow sparkles like silver in the sun, so people say “silver winter”. Snow is water vapour frozen by the cold. No two snowflakes are the same.
Worked examples
“Snowflakes”. December, January and February are the winter months. Today small snowflakes fell from the sky. Nilufar looked at the snow on her mitten. Each flake looked like a little star. But no two flakes were the same.
Why “silver winter”? Because snow sparkles like silver in the sun.
Class activity
Children fold paper and cut out their own snowflake with scissors. Then they compare them all: are any the same?
