Explanation
Navruz is celebrated on 21 March, when day and night are equal. The word Navruz means “new day”. It is one of the oldest holidays. At Navruz streets are cleaned, trees are planted, elderly people are visited, and sumalak, halim and green-herb samsa are cooked.

“Navruz has come”. Today is 21 March — the Navruz holiday. In our neighbourhood the streets were cleaned and flowers were planted. Mum baked green-herb samsa. We visited the old lady next door. In the evening music and songs rang out at the festival.
