Increasing and decreasing order

Explanation

Lining things up from the smallest to the biggest is increasing order. From the biggest to the smallest is decreasing order. We can order by age, number, length or size.

Worked examples
Increasing: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Decreasing: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
By size: bicycle, car, bus, train.
Class activity

Children line up by height: first from shortest to tallest, then the other way round.
