Explanation
Our ears hear the sounds of nature, animals, people and machines. A sound can be loud (thunder) or quiet (a whisper). Some information comes only by hearing, like a phone ringing or the radio.
Worked examples
A cat says “meow”, a cow says “moo”, a dog says “woof”.
Loud: a plane, thunder. Quiet: a whisper, a ticking clock.
Class activity
“Close your eyes and listen”: children sit silently for 1 minute and then list every sound they heard.
