Explanation
A newspaper is made by a team, and each member has a role. The editor reads all the pieces and checks that there is a good mix, so that the newspaper is not all about one topic. The graphic designer adds drawings that go with the pieces of writing. The layout specialist plans the position of every piece on every page. The manager makes sure that everybody understands their role and that the work is done on time. Here are the steps. First, choose a name for the newspaper. Second, choose pieces from your own work. Each child gives at least one, such as an interview, an article, an advert or a cartoon. Third, the team reads the pieces and makes changes. Fourth, write the final copies neatly. Fifth, put the name on the front page, then arrange and glue the pieces on the front page and the inside pages. Sixth, add more drawings. Last, number the pages so that readers can find things. Everyone helps everyone, and every role is important.
The pieces chosen by one group. Every child wrote at least one.
Counting pieces. The front page has 3 pieces. The 6 inside pages have 2 pieces each, so 6 × 2 = 12. In all there are 12 + 3 = 15 pieces.
