Regions and their ways
Discover P2 Term 2: Axis 4, Chapter 2
GoalResearch a place in Egypt, compare it with another, and say what makes my own city or village special.
New words
region · a large part of a countryresearch · finding out facts about somethingcompare · to say what is the same and what is different
Explanation
Egypt has many regions, and each has its own ways. Siwa is an oasis in the desert. People there grow dates and olives under palm trees, and many speak the Siwi language as well as Arabic. Near Aswan, Nubian villages have colourful houses and Nubian music. In Sinai, Bedouin families live in the desert and welcome guests with tea. Alexandria is beside the Mediterranean Sea, so fishing is part of life there. The people in all these places are Egyptians, and their different ways make Egyptian culture richer. To learn about a place we do research. We ask about clothes, food, language, celebrations and work. Then we compare it with our own city.
