GoalRead weather symbols, measure temperature and wind, and tell how weather changes our day.

Explanation
Weather is what the air outside is like today. It can be sunny, cloudy, windy or rainy. In most of Egypt rain is rare. Summer days are hot, especially in the south. Winter days are cooler, and the north coast gets some rain. We measure temperature with a thermometer. It is told in degrees Celsius. We can see the wind too. A ribbon tied to a stick hangs down on a calm day. It flutters in a light wind and stands out straight in a strong wind. A weather report uses symbols to show the sky, the wind and the temperature.

Nour makes a weather report for three days. She writes the sky, the wind and the temperature in a table.
Salma reads a thermometer in the shade. The red line stops at 26. The temperature is 26 degrees Celsius.
On a windy day the waves on the Nile get bigger. Boat trips can be unsafe in a strong wind. On a calm day the same trip is easy.
Class activity
Weather diary. For three days, look outside at the same time each day. Draw the sky symbol. Tie a ribbon to a stick and hold it up away from the road: is it hanging, fluttering or standing out? If you have a thermometer, put it in the shade and let a grown-up help you read it. Write or draw your report in a table. Never look straight at the Sun.
