Explanation

A monument is a building, a statue or another big thing that helps us remember a person, a place or an event. Egypt has many monuments. The pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza are very old. There are temples in places such as Luxor and Aswan. There are old mosques and churches, and the Citadel in Cairo. Many old monuments are made of stone. Some are made of brick, wood or metal. When we visit a monument, we look closely at its shapes, materials and patterns. We do not climb on it or write on it. We keep it safe for everyone.
