Explanation
Let us remember Term 1. A routine is what we do in order each day. The short hand of a clock shows the hour and the long hand shows the minutes. We solve problems by taking turns and using kind words. Healthy food comes from five groups: fruit, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy. A bird starts as an egg, then it is a chick, then a grown-up bird. People do many jobs, such as farming, selling and teaching. The money they earn is their income. We use income for needs, for saving and for sharing.
Worked examples
Mariam wakes up at 7 o’clock. The short hand points to 7 and the long hand points to 12.
A bird lays an egg. The chick hatches. The chick grows into a grown-up bird. This is the life cycle of a bird.
Youssef’s uncle is a farmer. He sells guavas and earns money. He uses some for needs, saves some and shares some.
Class activity
Review game. A grown-up asks questions and you answer: What time do you wake up? Which food group is rice in? What comes after the egg? What does a farmer do? What can we do with the money we earn? Then draw your day with three clocks: morning, afternoon and night.
