A radio advert for a city
On the radio, people can only hear. They cannot see. So we use describing words that help them imagine the place. We say “a cool sea breeze” and “blue water”, not just “nice”. A radio advert starts with a hello and the name of the city. Then it gives two or three true facts. It ends with a friendly invitation. A team shares the work. Each child has a part to read, and everyone writes the same words. Speak slowly and clearly so that listeners can understand.
Hello, dear listeners! We are in Alexandria, a city by the Mediterranean Sea.
The water is blue and a cool breeze is blowing.
You can visit the big library and eat fresh fish.
Come and visit Alexandria with your family!
Radio team. Work in a team of three. Choose a city in Egypt. Write four lines: a hello with the city’s name, two true facts, and an invitation to visit. Use at least two describing words. Practise reading it aloud, slowly and clearly. Then perform it for your class or family with no pictures, only voices. Check each fact with a grown-up or a book.
