Verbs are made from other word classes with suffixes. -la, -a make verbs from nouns, adjectives and interjections: tuz — tuzla (to salt), ish — ishla (to work), bosh — boshla (to begin); -(a)y, -i, -sira, -sa from nouns and adjectives, sometimes adverbs: qora — qoray (to darken), boy — boyi (to grow rich), suv — suvsa (to be thirsty); -(a)r from adjectives: oq — oqar (to whiten), qisqa — qisqar (to shorten). -illa, -ira make verbs from imitative words: chirq — chirqilla (to squeak), yalt — yaltira (to glitter). -sira also makes verbs from the pronouns sen and siz: sensira, sizsira. Further suffixes such as -lan, -lash can be added: suhbat — suhbatlash (to converse).
