My learning journal: a team project and a check-up
In a Team-Project Roundtable the group sits in a circle. Each person shares one word from Unit 2 and a sentence with it. Then the group talks: Why is it useful to look at the way we study? Remember a day when a lesson felt difficult: what made it easier? What would you say to a friend with the same trouble? Starters: I found out that … because … ; A problem I met was … and I fixed it by … ; I am proud of … . Then each person starts a learning journal with four parts: how I learn best, something I am proud of, a goal, and steps to reach it. You can write words and add small drawings. Check-up: you can name three kinds of learner, use can and can’t, use the present continuous, and put full stops and question marks.
| Journal part | Prompt | My sentence |
|---|---|---|
| How I learn best | I learn best when I … | I learn best when I say words aloud. |
| Something I am proud of | I am proud that I … | I am proud that I finished my project. |
| A goal | My goal is to … | My goal is to read ten books. |
| Steps | First I will … then … | First I read ten minutes, then I write notes. |
I found out that mistakes help me, because I can try again.
A problem I met was spelling, and I fixed it by writing the words on cards.
I am proud of my reading. I am practising every night.
Why is it useful to look at the way we study? What made a difficult lesson easier for you?
Start the journal. Write the date and the four parts. Add a small drawing for each part. Show it to your family and read one part aloud. Continue each week.
