Worked examples

Farida had a free Saturday, and she had two choices. Her swimming club was going to practise from ten to twelve, and she also had a science model to finish for Sunday. She thought, “If I swim, I won’t have enough time for the model. If I stay at home, I will miss one practice.” She evaluated both options. The consequence of missing school work was bigger, so she called her coach. The coach said, “Finish your model. We will see you next week.” Farida was happy with her smart choice, and she finished the model early.

Read and listen to the passage about a smart choice.

Subject: My dream job
Hi Mazen,
My dream job is to be a mechanic. I love cars, and I’m curious about how engines work. I’m good at fixing bicycles, so I already have a little skill. After school I’m going to join a training course. I know it will be hard work, but I never give up. What is your dream job? Write back soon!
