My learning plan: a paragraph with full stops and question marks

English Preparatory 1 Term 1, Unit 2: pp. 34–40
GoalWrite a short learning-plan paragraph with a topic sentence and details, and use full stops and question marks correctly.
New words
topic sentence · the sentence that tells the main ideadetail · a small fact that supports the main ideafull stop · the dot . at the end of a statementquestion mark · the sign ? at the end of a questiongoal · something you want to reachstep · one small part of a plan
Explanation

A paragraph starts with a topic sentence: it tells the main idea. Then details support it. Stay on one topic. A plan for learning can tell what you want to improve, what you are doing now, what you can and can’t do, and one problem with its solution. Useful starters: I found out that … because … ; A problem I met was … and I fixed it by … ; My goal is … . Punctuation: a statement ends with a full stop (period). A question ends with a question mark. Do not use both at the end. Examples: I practise every evening. Do you practise every evening? Write 60 to 80 words, or up to 100 if you can. Our model plan is about maths. Your task can be about any subject.

PartExample
Topic sentenceI want to improve my maths this term.

Worked examples

I want to improve my maths this term. I am practising ten problems every evening, and I am using colours to organize my notes. I can solve easy problems now, but I can’t solve long problems yet. A problem I met was fractions, and I fixed it by drawing pictures. I am also asking my teacher questions because mistakes help me learn. My goal is to get better step by step.
