Reading a blog: a day in a digital life
A blog is a web page where a person writes about their day or their ideas. To read it well, first find the main idea: what is the whole text about? Then look for details, such as who, what, when and why. If a word is new, read the sentences around it: they give clues. It also helps to know the part of speech. A noun is a name of a person, place or thing: screen, website. A verb is an action: search, remind. An adjective describes a noun: digital, amazing. Some more tech words: an ebook is a book you read on a screen, a laptop is a small computer you can carry, night mode makes a screen darker and softer for your eyes, and a smartboard is a big touch screen in a classroom. Our model blog is about one familyās day. The blog on page 14 of your book is a different one: read it too.

Hello, Iām Farida, and this is my blog. Today I want to show you a day with technology in my family. In the morning my father reads the news on the family tablet while I eat breakfast. At school we have computer class, and our teacher shows us how to search for facts about frogs on a safe website. Mumās phone reminds her to call Grandma every Friday, and I say hello too. In the evening my brother and I watch a short video about space. The screen is bright, so we sit far from it. Technology is amazing, but I also need time to play and sleep!
