My dream job: a review with apostrophes
A review gives your opinion. First say what you are reviewing, then the good side, the hard side, and what you think. Opinion words: great, important, difficult, boring, exciting, useful. Join ideas with because, but and however: The job is hard, but I love it. I like it. However, the hours are long. Add a plan with going to: Iām going to study at university. Apostrophes: use ā to show that letters are missing in a contraction: I am becomes Iām, do not becomes donāt, it is becomes itās. Use ā also to show who something belongs to: Hagarās book (one girl), the girlsā bags (many girls). Write 60 to 80 words, or up to 100 if you can.
| Use of ā | Example |
|---|---|
| missing letters | Iām, donāt, itās, sheāll |
| one owner | Hagarās book, the teacherās desk |
| many owners | the girlsā bags, the studentsā pens |
I think being a librarian is a great job. The good side is that you are with books all day, and you help people find stories. The hard side is that you must keep the library quiet and tidy. Iām going to study at university and read a lot. I donāt want to be famous; I want to help readers. A librarianās work is important, so itās a job Iām going to enjoy.
| Part | Example |
|---|---|
| Opinion | I think being a librarian is a great job. |
| Good side | You are with books all day. |
| Hard side | You must keep the library quiet. |
| Plan | Iām going to study at university. |
Is it Hoda book or Hodaās book?
Itās Hodaās book. The ās shows it belongs to Hoda.
Review plan. Choose a job (baker, farmer, teacher, mechanic). Fold a paper in four: opinion, good side, hard side, my plan. Write a sentence in each part. Then write the review in 60 to 80 words. Check the apostrophes.
