Places in a city: bank, square, station
A city has many places. We keep money in a bank. We take a train at the station. We walk and meet friends in a square. We see old and interesting things in a museum. We read and borrow books in a library. We buy fruit and vegetables at a market. Alexandria is a big city on the sea in the north of Egypt, and Cairo is the capital. A big city has a lot of people, cars and buildings. Read the table and say each place.
| Place | What we do there |
|---|---|
| bank | keep money |
| station | take a train |
| library | borrow books |
| market | buy fruit and vegetables |
| museum | see old things |
| square | meet friends and walk |
Uncle Hassan, what is there in your city?
There is a big market and a museum near the square.
Is there a library?
Yes, it is next to the bank, and the station is across the road.
Hoda lives in a big city by the sea. Every Friday she walks to the square with her father. They buy bread at the market and look at the boats. After that they go to the library, and Hoda borrows a book. The city is busy, but she likes it. In the evening they take the tram home.
Where am I? One person says what they do, for example: I take a train. The other says the place: You are at the station. Then change. Play eight rounds with bank, library, market, museum, square and station.
