Explanation

A first-aid kit is a box with things for small problems. A bandage covers a small cut. Soap and clean water wash our hands. Gloves keep hands clean when a grown-up helps. A thermometer measures how hot a person is. Scissors cut a bandage. Remember: a child asks a grown-up to help. For a big cut or a bad hurt, tell a grown-up at once. In Egypt, a grown-up calls 123 for an ambulance. Read the table.

Yara

Dad, what is in our first-aid kit?

Father

There are bandages, soap, gloves and a thermometer.

Yara

What is the thermometer for?

Father

It measures how hot a person is. We ask a grown-up to use it.

Listen. Yara and her father check the first-aid kit at home.

Hoda fell on the playground and cut her knee a little. Her teacher helped her. First she washed her hands with soap. Then she cleaned the cut with clean water. After that she put a bandage on it. The teacher also told Hoda’s mother. Hoda felt better and went back to class.
