My city picture book

Discover P2 Term 2: Axis 3, Chapter 2
GoalPlan a picture book about a city, with a cover, pages, a checklist and a friend’s review.
New words
author · the person who writes a bookillustrator · the person who draws the pictureschecklist · a list we use to check that we did everything
Explanation

A picture book tells about a place with pictures and a few sentences. The cover shows the title, the author’s name and the illustrator’s name. Each page has one big drawing of an important place in the city and at least two sentences about what is special there. A checklist helps us. Is my drawing coloured neatly? Did I write two sentences? Did I add details? When the book is ready, a friend reads it and gives a review. A kind review says one thing the friend likes and one thing the friend would like to see.

Class activity

Make a picture book. Fold two sheets of paper to make a small book with four pages. Make a cover with a title, your name as author and illustrator. On two pages, draw an important place in your city and write two sentences. Use a checklist. Then give the book to a friend. Ask for a review: “I like … One thing I would like to see is …”.
