3D shapes (2)
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Find one thing at home for each shape: cube, cuboid, cylinder, sphere and pyramid. Say its name.
For example a dice, a box, a tin, a ball, and a tent or a pyramid-shaped toy. Accept any sensible object.
2
Build a tower with 4 different things (a box, a tin, a book, a ball). Which one goes at the bottom? Which one can you not use in the tower?
A flat-faced object goes at the bottom. The ball rolls off, so it cannot be part of the tower.
3
Look at a tissue box or cereal box. How many faces does it have? How many edges?
6 faces and 12 edges.
4
Choose a shape at home. Write or say two clues. Can your family guess it?
Clues should talk about faces, edges or rolling, for example: I can roll and I can stand up on a circle (a tin).
5
Make a repeating pattern with 3 objects, for example box, ball, box, ball. Ask someone to say what comes next.
Any repeating pattern with the right next object named.
