Take up to 10 small things (beans, buttons). Estimate how many, then count. Write the number and the number word.
For example 8 and eight; talk about how close the estimate was.

Find a cube, a sphere and a cylinder at home (for example a dice, a ball, a tin). Which of them roll?
A ball (sphere) and a tin (cylinder) roll; a dice (cube) does not roll easily.

Fold a piece of paper in half. Open it and check that the two parts match. Say ‘half’.
Two equal parts that fit on top of each other.

Choose three numbers that go together, such as 4, 3 and 7. Write one add sentence and one take-away sentence with them.
4 + 3 = 7 and 7 − 3 = 4 (or 7 − 4 = 3).
